About
A Movement is a group of people working together to advance their shared ideas. The We Shine Bright Together (WSBT) Movement is for care experienced young people, by care experienced young people, in Brent. Members of the movement are committed to forming powerful solidarity and creating positive change for young people in and leaving care - now and in time to come.
Eligibility
To join us the only criteria is that you are or you have been in the care of Brent local authority.
Membership
There is no formal membership process. The members of the Movement are the care experienced young people who are most committed and in touch. We will collect some basic data from you so that we can keep in touch and make sure that we are as inclusive as we can be (LINK TO YDYR), but other than that it’s easy and very relaxed.
Why join?
We’re here to make history; we are totally committed to creating the right environment in which we can all thrive and succeed. This means that we prioritise our relationships with one another and create frequent opportunities to hang out, have fun and try new experiences. So sometimes we might go for food together, go bowling or to the cinema or, from time to time, something more out of the usual like a trip away, horse riding or high ropes climbing. When we are not socialising, we are serious about working equally together and seizing every opportunity to be heard. Most recently we have been interviewing prospective staff, making films, marching to Parliament and putting on an original multi-media performance at the theatre.
There’s something for everyone; everything is optional and we are always open to new ways of creating change.
