We’re pleased to announce our Youth and Community Placement at Kiln Theatre, a role created as part of the government’s Kickstart scheme with Creative Access as a Kickstart Gateway.
This six-month fixed term contract role will be an opportunity to join our Creative Engagement team. As the Youth and Community Assistant you will work closely with our Youth and Community Manager, supporting the communication and administration of our youth and community projects. The Creative Engagement Placement at Kiln will be part of a cohort of Kickstart jobs which benefit from support from Creative Access alongside the support from our in-house team.

BBMC (Brent Black Music Co-Op) was opened in July 1985 attended by UK and international artists, Brinsley Forde (Aswad) Suliman El Hadi (Last Poets), Astro and Ali Campbell (UB40).
It was recognised that the mainstream music industry did not invest in reggae music and the setting up of a music co-op would generate employment, training and other opportunities for the community and its musicians. With funding from the Greater London Council (GLC), and Brent Council the necessary instruments and equipment.

What is a City Gateway traineeship?
This course is up to 12 weeks long, this will initially be one day per week increasing to five days per week when you are on work experience placement. You will have lessons in employability to help you become ready for employment. You will learn how to put together a standout CV and cover letter, how to prepare for those all-important interviews, and you will get to meet leading professionals in the business world, giving you an insight into different job roles and company environments. You will then get to put your new found knowledge into practice with an office based work experience placement.

The Royal Opera House has been providing sector-leading apprenticeships since 2007. Since the apprenticeship scheme begun, the Royal Opera House has supported and trained 58 entry level apprentices in production and technical departments. Thanks to the success of these positions, the scheme has now expanded to include areas such as IT, Communications and Finance. The apprenticeships drive an open-door policy that allows us to encourage and maintain a diverse workforce that thrives in the creative industries.

Kickstart programme
Part time, 6 month contract
The Kickstart scheme provides opportunities for young people aged 16-24, claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. You will gain valuable work experience for six months and employability skills to help you become work ready. Each role builds up skills that will lead to sustainable employment and be paid at the normal rate on similar jobs.

Each participant will develop the skills and experience to find work after completing the scheme. This will include on-the-job training, work search support, transferrable skills development, mentoring and careers advice, and support with work skills such as attendance management, timekeeping, teamwork and communication. Candidate needs to be able to work 25 hours a week for 6 months (full length of the programme) and they will receive pay adequate to National Minimum Wage for their age group. Please note we can only accept candidates who are unemployed and have been receiving Universal Credit for 6 months or more.
